Criteria for Judges Lists

A1 LIST

For persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed, have completed their first appointment and have the support of this Club.

A2 LIST

For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and have the support of this Club.

A3 LIST

Judges who are recommended by this club as being suitable to award CCs in the breed, but not yet approved by the Kennel Club.

A3 List requirements for Breed Specialists

  1. Minimum of seven years judging experience in the breed and to have the support of this Club. (KC Policy).

  2. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (Save in exceptional circumstances) (KC Policy).

  3. To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at shows (KC Policy).

  4. (a) To have judged a minimum of 25 classes of the breed with an adequate geographical spread and (b) in addition to have judged the breed at a Breed Club Show, Supported Entry Show, Terrier Group Show or Championship Show without CCs with a substantial number of dogs present and (c) to have judged a minimum of 80 dogs of the breed.

  5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club accredited trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club regulations and judging procedures (KC policy as of July 1, 2001.)

  6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club accredited trainer on Confirmation and Movement. (KC policy as of July 1, 2001.)

  7. To have attended a Points of the Dog Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment. (KC policy as of July 1, 2005.)

  8. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club code of best practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. (KC policy as of July 1, 2001.)

    A3 List requirements for Non-Specialists

    1. Minimum of seven years judging experience in any one breed (to include 5 years in this breed) and to have the support of this Club. (KC Policy)

    2. To have awarded CCs in at least one other breed. (KC Policy)

3. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs of any breed when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (Save in exceptional circumstances).

4. To have judged a minimum of 25 classes of the breed with a good geographical spread and to have judged a minimum of 80 dogs of the breed.

5. Preferably to have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club code of best practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

B LIST

Judges who would have the support of this club to judge at shows without CCs or at Open Shows where four or more classes are scheduled.

B List requirements for Breed Specialists
  1. To have five years owning and exhibiting this breed and to have the support of this Club.

  2. To have some judging experience in this breed at Limited and Open Shows.

  3. To have attended a Breed Judging Seminar.

B List requirements for Non-Specialists

1. To have five years judging experience in any breed and to have the support of this Club.

2. To have judged classes of the breed at Open and Limited shows.

3. To have judged a minimum of 20 dogs of the breed.

4. Preferably to have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club code of best practice.

C LIST

For aspirant judges who have exhibited and/or shown an interest in the breed and have the support of this Club but who do not qualify for the B List.

N.B. Fulfillment of the Criteria does not automatically give the right of inclusion on any of the lists.
